Committees

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of the officers of the corporation. The Executive Committee takes urgent action when needed and board is not available, and it handles personnel issues and other matters delegated by the board.

Board Development Committee

The Board Development Committee has the organizational responsibility for reviewing and making recommendations regarding board roles and responsibilities, board composition, board knowledge, board effectiveness and board leadership. This committee also oversees the nomination and election process of board members as well as development and review of governance policies including the bylaws.

Fund Development Committee

The Fund Development committee is responsible for finding the resources to pursue the mission of enriching the student experience in the Flint Community Schools. The committee develops strategies, cultivates donor relationships and creates campaigns and events to help support the work of the Education Foundation.

Excellence In Education Program Committee

The Excellence in Education Committee is composed of current educators, community members and members of the Education Foundation board. Its primary purpose is to oversee the Excellence in Education Awards program, both monthly and annual awards, to oversee the nomination and selection process, to assist in planning the annual awards ceremony and to develop strategies to deepen the community’s understanding of educational excellence.

Alumni Committee

The Alumni Committee focuses on building relationships with alumni, creating opportunities for alumni to connect with each other, and hopes to motivate alumni to find ways to stay connected, or re-connect, with the Flint Community Schools and help today’s students.
